WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE MEDIATION PROCESS:
1. DISCOVERY
Meet with Laura McGee for a 30 minute consultation via Zoom or in person. This is your opportunity to discover if Leave Strong is right for you.
2. MEDIATE
Each 2 hour mediation session takes place at our Carlsbad office or via Zoom. You can start as early as this week and complete your whole mediation process in a matter of weeks or months. You set the pace.
3. SIGN MSA
Once you have negotiated all the details of your divorce, Laura personally drafts your Marital Settlement Agreement and gives you time to have it reviewed by your legal advisor before submitting it with your request for an uncontested divorce with an Agreement.
4. LEAVE STRONG
Having completed your entire divorce for the cost of a single court appearance, you will have the time, money, and the peace of mind that comes with Leaving Strong, and we remain here for you after your divorce.
DIVORCE COACHING
Divorce coaching is right for those seeking a cost-effective and high-integrity plan of action in various stages of the divorce process.
It is an opportunity to maintain your privacy while you work through all of the considerations that go into deciding if, or when, to divorce.
WHEN TO INTRODUCE DIVORCE COACHING
CONTEMPLATION
You may be in the contemplation stage, trying to determine if divorce or separation is the right path for you. While only you can make that decision, Laura can clarify what the process involves, explain your options, and offer insight into what life after divorce might look like.
PREPARATION
If you have decided you want a divorce, you can save thousands (and thousands!) of dollars on legal and court fees with the right preparation. The challenge you face is that you don’t yet know what you don’t know. Laura will give you checklists of what information to collect, help you evaluate the information you have collected, and refer you to experts, if needed, to decipher the context of what you have gathered.
DURING DIVORCE
You may be working with an attorney or another mediator and are already fully engaged in your divorce process. You want divorce coaching that will empower you to think about the cost-benefit of the path you are on, help you to craft strong proposals, and prepare you to effectively negotiate or evaluate proposals. With Laura’s guidance, you will find your voice, hone your focus, and be accelerated through your divorce in a cost-efficient manner.
SELF-REPRESENTING
Perhaps you are planning to self-represent or do not yet have the cooperation of your spouse. You do not have to go at it alone. If you are in California, Laura can prepare and file your legal documents and can help you make written proposals. If court is necessary, she will share her trial experience to help you appear in court fully prepared. Laura will offer referrals to other mediators or connect you with an attorney if continuing to self-represent is not in your best interests.
